Rotary Club - King's Lynn Priory - Profile

King’s Lynn is a port town of considerable historic significance. It was founded in the 11th Century and is situated close to the sea, 100 miles north of London. In the middle ages, King’s Lynn was a member of the Hanseatic League (a Confederation of northern European trading cities from the 12th to 17th Century).

Priory was chartered in 1973 when some professional classifications in the original King’s Lynn Club were full. Despite being more than 30 years old we still have some active founder members amongst us.

Our Club was directly responsible for the formation of the Rotary Club of Hunstanton and together with our mother club, The King’s Lynn Club; we formed the Rotary Club of King’s Lynn Trinity. The town now has three Rotary Clubs, ours being the only one meeting regularly at lunchtime.

We currently have 34 members and place strong emphasis on weekly Rotary Fellowship. Annually, members and partners are encouraged to join together in a foreign visit of particular interest.

Priory organises a number of regular events involving the public. We rely on help from everyone to assist those less fortunate than ourselves. Details and photos of some of these events can be found in the Rotary in Action section of this site.

We welcome Rotarian visitors to meet with us most Friday lunchtimes and hope that suitable young people will wish to join us as members of our Club.
